The route to the final in 1958-59 followed a similar pattern to the 1927 victory.
Third Lanark were defeated 2-1 in the first round and Dunfermline were dispatched 4-3 in the second.
A bye in the third
again set up a semi final against Kilmarnock.
A 4-1 win took
Saints into the final and a meeting with Motherwell.
goals from Jim Tierney and a Davie Laird strike, gave Saints a 3-0 first leg win. A 2-0 defeat at Fir Park in the second
leg didn't dampen the occasion and the trophy came back to Paisley for a second time.
The Saints team for both legs was:-
McTurk, Holmes, Ryan, Gregal, Campbell, Laird, Tierney, Thomson and Kerrigan.
This win is however overshadowed by the first team winning the Scottish Cup.
